C.S. Clifford (Steve) has always been passionate about stories and storytelling. As a child, he earned pocket money singing at weddings in the church choir; the proceeds of which were spent in the local bookshop. Nowadays, he enjoys reading thrillers, crime and adventure books with some of his favourite authors being Wilbur Smith, Clive Cussler, Michael Connolly, James Patterson and Lee Child. When not travelling, he lives in Kent, where he enjoys carpentry, and angling, when not writing.

In his adult life, Steve has worked in agricultural machinery sales, retail management and started his own business. He taught in primary schools for fourteen years and was inspired to start writing through the constant demands of the children he taught.
Since retiring from teaching in 2015, he travels around the country promoting reading and writing, and specialises in inspiring children to write and sharing his writing skills.

Many of his ideas for books come from simple visual images or places he has visited. And from the children he teaches. He often weaves characteristics of people he has known into the characters in his stories and enjoys setting stories in different time periods across the country.
His school promotions and workshops are purposely designed to suit the needs of teachers and learners and he often promotes editing techniques not seen or taught elsewhere.
